Tensta Folk Dance Team started 1949 and we have nowadays about 200 members in different ages. Tensta is a small village in the countryside 90 kilometres north of Stockholm in Sweden.

We have one group of adult dancers and four groups of children.

The groups have been very successful and many young talents give hope on the future.

The groups meet for rehearsal once a week in Tensta village hall.

Tensta Folk Dance Team has been very successful in different dance competition and we have been arranging the Swedish championship in Schottis for three years.

In the team there is also a group of musicians. The instruments are violins, key fiddles, harmonicas, double bass and guitar. The music group accompanies the dancers and gives concerts as well and is of some people considered to be one of the best folk music groups in Sweden.

We all perform in traditional Swedish costumes at all kind of events, i.e. national day celebrations, international meetings, weddings, season celebrations, markets and home for elderly. We also participate in dance and music mass in church.

We like to travel and meet other folk dancers and musicians and gladly welcome groups to our village.
